Oakley

Little Miss Sure Shot “Oakley”

Oakley is registered with the American Kennel Club as a mixed breed dog with their partners program in order for her to be able to participate in dog sports as a rescue. Lauren was extremely curious about her DNA and genetics so she decided to DNA test her to get a better idea of where her temperment came from. Her DNA test determined that she is a Brittany/American Pitbull Terrier Mix. While you wouldn’t guess this, she acts very much like a Brittany. Her registered name with the AKC is Little Miss Sure Shot after the famous Annie Oakley. This turned out to be the perfect namesake for her as she loves to hunt. Oakley stems from right here in Clarksville, TN. Lauren rescued her from Sagley’s Biker Bully Farm as a tiny 8-week-old puppy. While Oakley had a bit of a rough start in life, getting diagnosed with Parvo disease at just 8-weeks-old, she really proved to be a tiny little fighter. She lost 5 of her 10 pounds and took a week to recover from Parvo. Lauren and Oakley had decided they had big tasks to accomplish in life.

Oakley is now 2-years-old and has lived a marvelous, wild life. Oakley’s favorite thing to do is hang out with her handler and work. She currently holds titles in numerous dogs sports and is still working towards more. In 2023 Oakley placed 42nd in Lost Item level 2 nosework with NASDA which got her an invite to the invitational in Canada. She is also currently 80th place in the world against all mixed breed dogs in Fastcat. She also holds her AKC trick titles from Novice to Performer. Oakley participates in dock diving, high jump, and competition level obedience. She is currently working through Search & Rescue training with her handler, Lauren, to become an Area Search dog.

Even though Oakley has accomplished many things in her short career, our training journey has been anything but simple. This dog threw every behavioral problem at her handler over the years. If you have an issue with your dog, this dog has probably taught Lauren how to solve it over any other dog.

If you think you’ve seen us around town training, you probably have, we’re always around town working on new skills!
