Hazel

Hazel’s Story

Hazel is a 10-year-old American Cattle Dog/Corgi mix adopted from a rescue in St. Louis, MO. She is trainer Lauren’s first foster fail. Hazel was adopted by Lauren and her mom when she was 10-months-old. While we don’t know what Hazel’s early life looked like we do know that she had a rough upbringing. The rescue told Lauren that she was dumped by somebody early in life. She had already had a litter of puppies & had been surviving on her own living in a park for 3 months.

When Lauren first brought her home she realized Hazel was extremely terrified of life. She was extremely fearful and environmentally unstable. Lauren did months of work to rehabilitate Hazel and teach her that life wasn’t so bad after all. When talking to the rescue further Lauren realized she had been in rescue for over 2 months with little to no interest and decided she would become a permanent member of Lauren’s family.

While Hazel does not want any part of being a sport dog, she does enjoy being head pet of the household. She loves going on walks, learning some tricks, cuddling on the couch, and being best friends with every person that comes to visit & her big sister Sierra.
